Two years ago for Mother’s Day my sister and I took my mom to the Old Salty Dog restaurant in Venice, FL. I enjoyed their Maui Wow-ee burger on that visit. Recently the picture of that burger came up in my Timehop and I knew I needed to make my own version of that burger. That is the inspiration for this Hawaiian Burger with Teriyaki Mayonnaise.
I searched the Internet for a recipe and none of them sounded just right to me so I pulled together pieces from 3-4 recipes to make this one, and this is plan B. Plan A used a different teriyaki sauce. Unfortunately, when I headed to Publix to pick up my ingredients then didn’t carry 2 of them. Thankfully I knew I might need a plan B so I had those ingredients on my list as well.
- 1 lb ground chuck
- 8 oz can pineapple rings
- 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 cloves of garlic minced
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 4 hamburger rolls
- 4 slices provolone cheese
- In a small bowl mix together the soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger.
- In a small bowl mix together the mayonnaise and 2 TBS of the teriyaki sauce.
- Set aside
- In a large bowl mix together by hand the ground beef and the rest of the teriyaki sauce until well incorporated.
- Cover half of the grill grate with aluminium foil.
- Place the burgers on the foil and cook for 6-8 minutes per side.
- Once the burgers are cooked top with a slice of provolone cheese.
- While the cheese is melting, place 4 pineapple rings on the grill grate.
- Cook the pineapple about 1 minute per side, until they are charred.
- Place a pineapple ring on top of each burger.
- Slather the hamburg roll with the teriyaki mayonnaise and enjoy!
This recipe is so easy and so flavorful. I am addicted to the teriyaki mayonnaise, it is a new favorite. Ron loved these burgers and said we better make them again soon! I hope you enjoy this recipe and all of the easy recipes I share here on The Mom Maven. I hope you share them on your social networks. I just ask that you not copy and share the entire recipe with photos. Please use the sharing buttons below and share the link to this post. Thanks!

Five stars. Absolutely delicious easy and addictive. Other recipes dry the burgers by not using teriyake mayonnaise on the bun like you have. Great idea.
