Yesterday I told you about the Cat in the Hat for President event we attended on the Carnival Magic. As that event ended we paraded through the ship to the Main Dining Room for the Green Eggs and Ham character Breakfast. I have never thought of attending this character meal when we have cruised because our kids are adults. Well, we had such a good time and the menu is so delicious, we plan to go as a family on our next cruise!

We were ushered into the dining room past a Cat in the Hat ice sculpture to adorably decorated tables which set the scene for the fun to come. The breakfast/brunch menu is creative and classic. With offerings like…

  • Do You Like Green Eggs and Ham? Would you, could you, on a boat? Try them while you float. Try them and you may, I say.
  • Scrambled Super-Dee Dooper-dee-Booper, Special de luxe a-la Peter T Hooper Omelets We’ll crack’em and shuck’em and chuck’em in pans. We’ll mix in some beans and use fifty-five cans We’ll mix in whatever you wish; Feel free to create your own stupendous egg dish.
  • Truffula Tree Pancakes Those pancakes! Those pancakes! Stacked high as the trees. I’ve been searching my whole life for stacks such as these.
  • Horton’s Cereal-Crusted French Toast So, gently, and using the greatest of care, Horton tossed bread and cereal in the air, and he lifted a plate and placed it close, and when his mixture landed it was cereal French Toast.
  • From There to Here, From Here to There, Funny Belgian Waffles are Everywhere One berry, two berry, red berry, blue berry. Waffles with whipped cream. Waffles without. Just tell us which one; no need to shout.
  • Fox in Socks Steak and Eggs Don’t blab such blibber blubber! Try to say filet mignon topped with two fried eggs, Béarnaise sauce, chopped potatoes and grilled tomatoes. Now is your tongue numb?

Ron and I both had the Fox in Sox Steak and Eggs, Oh My Goodness it was delicious! I have been thinking of that filet ever since! We seriously can’t stop gushing about how delectable our food was. We checked in with others at the breakfast and everyone agreed, the food was top-notch.

During the meal time we had three different character interactions. We were visited by Thing 1 and Thing 2, then by the Cat in the Hat and finally by Sam I Am. All of the interactions were good. The character handlers had autograph stamps for kids who wanted their books autographed by the characters. We all had individual or family pictures taken with each character.

We have done several different kinds of character meals over the years and the Green Eggs and Ham breakfast on Carnival was great. It had appropriate whimsical theming, delicious food and good interactions with beloved characters. To top it off the breakfast is only a $5.00 per person up charge  during your cruise! The character meal is available once per cruise on all Carnival ships and is held typically on a sea day. Reservations are suggested but ‘walk-ins’ are welcome (space permitting); during peak seasons, reservations may be necessary. Reservations can only be made once on board by contacting the reservation line (extension 32323) between the hours of 10:00am and 10:00pm. The phone extension is also listed in the ‘Fun Times’.
