I like to write in my Bible, there I said it. I know there are two camps on this debate but I am a writer and a note taker and when I need to make a note, I make it in whatever book I am reading, (this is why I can’t read library books unless they are fiction). All of my Bible have writing in them and I’m ok with that. It works for me. If you too like to write in your Bible, you may want to check out the ESV Journaling Bible from Crossway. I have heard of the ESV (English Standard Version) translation of the Bible but I wasn’t familiar with it. I did some research and found out that it is a revision of the 1971 RSV (Revised Standard Version) Bible, which is the translation I used as a child.

Key Features of the ESV Journaling Bible

The ESV Journaling Bible provides the perfect way for you to keep a journal of your spiritual life right inside the Bible that you read and study each day. With covers and formats that look like the finest journals, the Journaling Bible features two-inch ruled margins for writing observations, reflections, prayers, praises, notes, and journal entries. This unique Bible makes a great gift and lasting keepsake for anyone who values God’s Word.

Features:

  • Black letter text
  • Double-column, paragraph format
  • Cream-colored paper
  • 2″ ruled margins
  • One-Year Bible Reading Plan
  • Introductions and section headings for each Bible book

Mom Maven’s Thoughts

Since I wasn’t familiar with the ESV translation, I used the ESV Journaling Bible for my personal Bible reading over the past few days. The text is very readable and could be enjoyed for children ages 10 through adult. I LOVE the 2″ margin writing space but for my old eyes, the print is too small to enjoy on a regular basis. This Bible comes in a slipcase and the cover is cloth over board so it feels special. I think this Bible is best suited as a gift Bible for a high school graduate, College student or adult. While a child could read it, this is not a suitable format for a child to use as their primary Bible. I am praying about who to give my copy of this Bible to, someone who needs a Bible and will appreciate all that this Bible has to offer.

I love the writing space. I have needed a new Bible for quite some time, but with free Bible apps, it is hard to justify the money.
