In one week, on February 14th, Disney Junior will premiere on Disney Channel, taking the place of Playhouse Disney. Disney Junior invites parents and grandparents to join their children in the Disney experience of magical, musical and heartfelt stories and characters, both classic and new, while incorporating specific learning and developmental themes.

Disney Junior is geared to 2-7 year olds and will be anchored by a new animated series Jake and the Never Land Pirates. This interactive treasure hunt follows the adventures of Captain Hook and Smee, along with a new crew of kid pirates led by the enthusiastic and courageous Jake. This series, which emphasizes teamwork, features original pirate rock music performed by The Never Land Pirate Band.

Other new short-form series include Mickey Mousekersize, Special Agent Oso: Three Healthy Steps and A Poem is… narrated by Katie Holmes and Jennifer Garner. Your child’s favorite Playhouse Disney shows will also be a part of Disney Junior including Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Special Agent Oso and Imagination Movers.

When Disney Junior kicks off next week it will be on 4:00am-2:00pm (ET/PT) weekdays and 4:00-9:00am (ET/PT) weekends on Disney Channel. In 2012 Disney Junior will debut as a 24-hour basic cable and satellite channel in the U.S.

DisneyJunior.com is the new learning-focused Disney destination online for kids age 2-7 and their parents. The site will feature storybooks narrated by popular Disney characters, activities that encourage creativity, over 150 full-length episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, and Special Agent Oso. It will also include 90 games featuring characters from Disney Princesses, Toy Story and Cars.

Here is a sneak peek of the Disney Junior theme song, enjoy!

I think Jake and the Never Land Pirates looks really cute and I can’t wait to check it out. What about you? Will your kids be watching Disney Junior? Leave me a comment and let me know.

I’m excited for this, where I don’t encourage watching tv ALL day, it does seem that it is always on in atleast one room-normally just for background noise! I enjoy having quality kid proof channels that are appropriate for my daughter, this should be a bit hit in our home!

My youngest kiddo is a Nick Jr child, but I have seen the previews on TV. I am not sure if he will be watching it or not – guess we will have to see.
