It’s a new year and I am on the search for some healthier recipes to make and mix in with some of our not-so-lean favorites, everything in moderation, right? For me pork is a meat that always needs help, a marinade, rub, sauce, or stuffing to ad some flavor to this boring, lean cut of meat. I found several recipes for Cuban Spiced Pork Chops so I researched Cuban spices and learned that the staples of Cuban cooking are garlic, cumin, oregano, bay leaf, salt, pepper, and cilantro. I have most of those in my spice cupboard so I went to work.
This Cuban Spiced Pork Chop Recipe makes a paste type marinade, not a liquid one. This recipe is for 2 servings of 6oz boneless pork chop. If you need to make more to feed your family, double or triple the recipe as needed.
Enjoy the island flavors in this easy grilled Cuban Spiced Pork Chops recipe.
- 6 oz boneless pork chop get one for each person
- 1/2 tsp olive oil
- 2 limes, juiced
- 2 cloves garlic, pressed
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Use a fork to poke holes in both sides of the pork chops to help the marinade paste seep in.
In a metal bowl mix together the olive oil, lime juice, garlic, cumin, onion powder, and black pepper.
Spread the paste over both sides of the pork chops.
Place the pork chops in a zippy bag in the freezer to marinate from 1-24 hours.
Grill the pork chops 8-10 minutes turning once midway through the cooking time.
I am not a big lime juice fan but it works well in this recipe and keeps the flavors more authentic. I hope you enjoy this recipe and all of the easy recipes I share here on The Mom Maven.
