Saturday Ron and I had the pleasure of visiting the Carnival Magic while it was in port at Port Canaveral. This was very exciting for us because we are Carnival enthusiasts with 6 Carnival cruises under our belts. Even more exciting to us is the fact that next year we will be cruising on the Carnival Magic with a group of friends and family, so we got a sneak peek as to what the ship has to offer. We were there as guests of Carnival to experience the Cat in the Hat for President event happening now through November on Carnival ships. We also got to enjoy the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast which costs an additional $5.00 per person…but is so worth it!
When we arrived in the campaign headquarters, the stage was set for the candidates to arrive. We were greeted with campaign workers who offered us blue Thing hair hats, coloring pages, ballots, crayons and water or lemonade. There was fun music playing and some of the kids were dancing. Face painting was also available and some of the kids did that too. The press secretary called all the kids to come sit on the floor up front. He spoke to the kids about the importance of voting and how we vote everyday with the choices we make.
The candidates arrived, Cat in the Hat is running for president and Thing 1 and Thing 2 are running for the first ever duel vice presidency. They greeted the children and gave hugs and high fives. Then it was time to collect and count the ballots.
When all the votes were counted, the literacy ticket won in an unanimous vote!
Next we joined Cat in the Hat, Thing 1, Thing 2 the press secretary and the campaign workers in a parade through the ship to the main dining room. We were given pom poms, streamers, cow bells and posters and we chanted “One Vote, Two Votes, I Vote, You Vote!” as we went.
