You may remember that we had originally picked out bridesmaid dresses at David’s Bridal on the same day we got Summer’s wedding dress. The plan was to return to the store with all 4 of the girls and order those dresses. Once I discovered the overcharge issue and the way David’s Bridal handled it we, of course, decided to find dresses elsewhere. We looked all over online and finally found a dress on TopWedding.com. All 4 girls ordered their dresses and we waited anxiously to arrive.
Alex and Jessica’s dresses arrived first. Alex’s dress was too big. She ordered a size 6 but it was bigger than the dress Jessica ordered, which was a size 8! Jessica’s dress was waaaay too small. It couldn’t come close to zipping up and was about 6″ too small in the chest!. Gabby’s dress arrived next and fit perfectly. Last but not least, Maria’s dress arrived and it also fit great. I told Alex and Jessica to go through the very convoluted return policy and see what the company said. After over 2 weeks with absolutely no response, I told the girls to let me handle it.
I reached out to TopWedding on Twitter, Facebook and I left a comment on the dress’ page on the website. At first I heard nothing. Then a fellow blogger saw my posts and gave me the email address to their PR person. He reached out to me, insisting he wanted to make things right.
While all this was going on we got Jessica and Alex together and found out that the dress Jessica received fit Alex perfectly. So, technically we only needed one dress now! The PR person put me in touch with a customer service rep who was very helpful. She instructed me to measure Jessica and the dress she received and take pictures of each measurement to send to her. Once it was finally determined that there was an issue, they offered to make another dress for $60.00 including shipping. I agreed to pay the $60 out of my pocket so that we could get this resolved.
I am happy to say that the new dress arrived this week and it fits Jessica perfectly. In the end it took 2 months to resolve the issues, but we are happy with the results.
What You Need to Know About Ordering from TopWedding.com
- Don’t order your regular size.
- Don’t measure yourself, have someone else measure you.
- Follow the website’s size chart.
- Be prepared to pay a lot in shipping. These dresses are coming from Japan. Each dress was about $40 in shipping costs.
- If you have a problem reach out to customer service at cs@topwedding.com, they really do want their customers to be happy.
I hope this post helps you, if you were considering shopping with TopWedding. They were able to make a bad situation good in the end. They also allowed us to keep the size 6 dress that didn’t fit any of our girls. I am going to try and sell that dress to recoup my cost for Jessica’s dress.
