I became a fan of Chris Mann’s when I heard him live on Ustream from Amy Lupold Bair’s living room a few years ago. Chris came across that night as a fun, caring, talented musician and I was hooked. Earlier this year Chris was a contestant on The Voice. I had never watched the show before but I watched that season so I could vote for Chris. Though he didn’t win the competition, he won over a lot of fans and had two of his songs from The Voice on the iTunes Top 10 Pop Singles Chart.

This week Chris released his first full-length, major label album, Roads. I am very picky about the music I like. I like a lot of genres of music but as a classically trained vocalist myself, I dislike a lot of the music that is currently popular due to lack of musical talent. The music of Chris Mann is just the opposite. Chris is a talented classical crossover artist whose vocals are clean, crisp and spot on. Roads contains a mix of tracks from classical to classics and Mann approaches each song with his talented vocals and a passion most musicians never attain.

The Tracks

  1. Roads-the title cut which speaks to the fact that we are all on a journey and there will be bumps in the road but we have to stay on the road that leads us home.
  2. Need You Now-by Lady Antebellum is a passionate love song that is a great crossover for Mann.
  3. Cuore-co-written by Mann and based on Bach’s “Air on a G String”, is a beautiful Italian love song
  4. The Blower’s Daughter-featuring Christina Aquilera
  5. My Way-The Frank Sinatra classic, whose lyrics were written by Paul Anka and reworked for Chris. This is the centerpiece of the album and gives this classic a new life for a new generation of listeners.
  6. Unless You Mean It-a pop love song
  7. Always on My Mind-The Willie Nelson classic recreated as a passionate song of love…and loss with Chris’ amazing vocals.
  8. On A Night Like This-a song of young love
  9. Ave Maria-The classical song has never been sung better, IMHO
  10. Falling-a contemporary balled co-written by Mann
  11. Viva La Vida-the Cold Play hit is masterfully reimagined by Mann

You can get Roads on iTunes or Amazon . I thoroughly enjoy the album and I think you will too.

Disclosure: This is a review post from One2One Network. I was provided with a copy of the album and I am eligible for a prize drawing. All opinions stated are my own
