Walt Disney Pictures’ action-packed animated musical adventures “Pocahontas” and “Pocahontas II: Journey To A New World”debut for the first time ever in vivid High Definition — on August 21, 2012.  Combined also for the first time in a Two-Movie Collection, the exciting release allows families and fans of all ages to own these timeless stories of hope, courage and friendship together in an exciting Disney ‘Combo Pack’ Including Blu-ray and DVD, and also available on HD digital download.

The Two-Movie Collection, Blu-ray debut features exciting all-new bonus material including “Drawing Inspiration: The Lost Story of Hiawatha,” a fascinating behind-the-scenes featurette showcasing how Walt Disney and his team were once developing a full-length animated feature called “Hiawatha,” that ultimately directly influenced the development of “Pocahontas.”

Bursting with all the “Colors of the Wind” and filled with spirited adventure, romance, and the show-stopping songs of Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, the “Pocahontas Two-Movie Collection” features an award-winning cast that includes Mel Gibson (“The Passion of the Christ;” Academy Award® winner, Best Director “Braveheart,” 1995), Irene Bedard, Christian Bale (“Reign of Fire;” Academy Award® winner, Best Performance by an Actor in a SupportingRole “The Fighter,” 2011) and David Ogden Stiers (“Lilo and Stitch,” “Pooh’s Heffalump Movie”).

The bonus features on this Blu-ray are awesome! if you are a Disney history geek then the “Drawing Inspiration: The Lost Story of Hiawatha,” featurette will be a great addition to your Disney library. Other bonus features include: The Music of Pocahontas, Deleted Son “If I Never Knew You”, “Little Hiawatha” cartoon short, deleted scenes, audio commentary with the movie’s producer and co-producers and the Virtual Vault.

“Pocahontas” won Academy Awards® for both “Best Original Score” and “Best Song – “Colors of the Wind” 1995. The film also earned a Grammy Award® for “Best Song” (“Colors of the Wind,” 1996).

This Two-Movie Collection, 3-Disc Special Edition Combo Pack comes with 1 Blu-ray and 2 DVDs for only $39.99! “Pocahontas” tells the story of a free-spirited girl (voiced by Irene Bedard) who wonders what adventures wait “Just Around the River Bend.” Pocahontas – along with her playful pals Meeko the raccoon and Flit the hummingbird – relies on the guidance of her loving and wise Grandmother Willow (voice by Linda Hunt) when English settlers arrive on the shores of her village. Her meeting with the courageous Captain John Smith (voiced by Mel Gibson) leads to a friendship that bridges the gap between two cultures and changes history. In “Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World,” Pocahontas sets off on a journey to England with Meeko, Flit, and Percy. Hearing rumors of John Smith’s death, Pocahontas tries to prevent war and battle.

The “Pocahontas” Two-Movie Collction is available in stores Tuesday, August 21, 2012.
