We have been a Veggie Tales family since the beginning. My oldest son was born in 1993 the same year Veggie Tales began. I think we owned every VHS, book and CD that Veggie Tales published from 1993-2006! The latest Veggie Tales title is VeggieTales: Robin Good and His Not-So-Merry Men. Even though my boys are grown, they both volunteer in children’s ministry so my 16yo and I sat down to watch Bob & Larry’s newest adventures.
VeggieTales: Robin Good and His Not-So-Merry Men is a fun parody that features plenty of high-energy, family-friendly music, including a new Silly Song with a theme that was selected through a recent online fan contest, “Bubble Rap” by Boyz in the Sink. . The episode also includes the animated short, “Lenny & the Lost Birthday,” which also helps teach lessons about handling hurt and forgiveness.
“Lenny & the Lost Birthday” is a cute story with an unexpected twist. Lenny, played by Junior Asparagus thinks everyone, even his mom, forgot his birthday. He is hurt and sad for a whole day and then he finds out no one forgot and he needs to forgive those he was angry with. The “Bubble Wrap” was disappointing to us. We have loved the music of Boyz in the Sink and we were looking forward to the new song but it didn’t live up to our expectations and was rather blah.
In “Robin Good and His Not-So-Merry Men” their mission is to help people by fundraising from the rich and giving to the poor! But when a greedy Prince starts stealing the townspeople’s hams, donations are down and Robin’s friends take off and decide to give robbing from the rich a try. Feeling rejected, Robin thinks things can’t get any worse, until he finds out that the ham-hoarding Prince has also captured his friends. Can Robin overcome his own hurt, rescue his friends and restore the townspeople’s hope?
Over all we enjoyed the DVD and it would make a great Easter gift for the little ones in your life.
Disclosure: I received a copy of the DVD for the purpose of this review. I will be donating my copy to the children’s ministry at our church. All opinions are 100% mine.

Oh Veggie Tales, how I love you! And then I love Robin Hood too, so to combine the two and end up with Robin Good. *sigh* I am one happy mama. Entertaining for all ages (from my six month old to my parents) – Veggie Tales is well loved in my family. This video starts with a great short perfect for celebrating Leap Year and President’s Day. Then we have the Robin Good story full of value in moral and entertaining songs. (Who knew “Big Brother” was with so much in common with Prince John? hmm…) I love the humor and the entertainment for my toddler is priceless. Oh what a joy to, in a way, introduce her to the classic story I love with a Biblical message.
