Back in October when I was heading to Type-A Con the big buzz was that Freddie Prinze Jr was going to be in the Best Buy Suite for a cooking demonstration based on a recipe from his new cookbook, Back to the Kitchen: 75 Delicious, Real Recipes (& True Stories) from a Food-Obsessed Actor. I am not a fangirl so I didn’t send in a video to be his sous chef, nor did I plan to attend his demonstration.

On the day of the demonstration I actually went back to my room to nap as soon as I finished lunch. I set my alarm so I would be back in time for the next session. I woke up before my alarm went off so I headed back to the conference center and popped my head into the suite to see if anything was still going on. I was handed a ticket and an autographed cookbook and ushered into line to get my picture taken with Freddie Prinze Jr. There were only a few people in line ahead of me so I figured, “Why not?”

The cookbook is full of stories and beautiful pictures as well as 75 recipes like:

  • Biscuits with Green Chile Sausage Gravy
  • Easy as Pie marinated Skirt Steak with Cherry Tomato and Avocado Salsa
  • Kielbasa, Sweet Onion, and Pineapple Sandwiches
  • The Green Chile Cheeseburger
  • Papa Prinze Gazpacho Salad
  • Last Minute Chicken Thighs with Easy Black Beans and Rice
  • Sarah’s Clams Oreganata
  • Sea Bass with Sugar and Lime
  • French Bistro Onion Soup
  • Jambalaya
  • Charlie’s Spaghetti Squash
  • Beets with Fresh Orange Juice

just to name a few. This is an amazing cookbook, just not one that I will use often enough to add to my collection. I am sure some of you would be excited to get your hands on an autographed cookbook so, in the spirit of the holidays, I am giving my copy away.
