I posted this message, With Liberty and Justice for All, on my personal Facebook wall this morning. Since a lot of you are not friends of mine on that page, I felt I needed to share this message here as well.

With liberty and justice for all-my thoughts on post election America.

We have had 3 passionate, divisive presidential elections in a row. In 2008 & 2012 the evangelical Christians were on the losing side. We were afraid for our future and for our children’s future. It has been a very difficult 8 years. We have watched our nation be torn apart by hatred and racism. We have paid fines for not opting in to a federal health plan that we didn’t want.

In those 8 years, we were called names and bullied by mainstream media, Hollywood and worst of all, our Facebook friends.
In this election cycle we have been bullied even more, by the female candidate herself! We have stood firm, prayed hard, and while Donald Trump is not the man most of us thought God would use to set America back on her axis again, he is the one who has been called for such a time as this.
I get that you may be concerned or scared right now, how do you think we’ve felt since 2008? Spewing evil and posting things like “If you voted for Trump unfriend me now” is a bit juvenile and honestly un-American. It isn’t going to happen overnight but now is the time to start being the melting pot America was created to be.

America, as the founding fathers created her, was quickly slipping away. Her people have spoken. Like it or not it is time to come together as one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

2 Chronicles 7:19

Since writing those words I have watched both Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama speak to the nation. Both called for unity in the country. Hopefully once the sting of this loss has dissipated, we will begin to heal and come together as one nation.

We must continue to pray and seek God’s face. We must humble ourselves and reach beyond our homes, families, neighborhoods and cities. They will know we are Christians by our love. Now is not the time to become weary in well doing. We need to find a need and meet it, find a hurt and heal it. Only by being the hands and feet of Jesus can we affect change.
