On the heels of SeaWorld Orlando’s Wednesday announcement of the Mako hypercoaster, Thursday included announcements by Busch Gardens and Universal Orlando. All of these announcements excite me because it tells me that tourism and specifically the theme park industry is thriving here in Florida and that is good for our economy.

Cobra’s Curse at Busch Gardens Tampa

Busch Gardens® Tampa puts a spin on family thrills in 2016 with a brand new family thrill ride – Cobra’s Curse. This spin coaster is the only one of its kind in the world, featuring a vertical lift and taking riders on a whirlwind adventure of exciting explorations.

Located in the Egypt area of the park, explorers will come face-to-face with an 80-foot snake icon, trek over the park’s Serengeti Plain® and discover the mysteries of an Egyptian archeological excavation.

“This isn’t your ordinary spin coaster. In true Busch Gardens style, we’re putting a twist on this attraction and taking riders on an unforgettable and exciting journey,” said Busch Gardens Park President Jim Dean. “

Cobra’s Curse will start with a vertical lift! It isn’t your typical spin coaster the first 1/3 of the ride is “normal” then they second 1/3 of the ride is backwards and the last 1/3 is spinning! I love a good spin coaster and I am excited about Cobra’s Curse coming to Tampa. I’m hoping I can deal with the 70 foot first drop! This is a family coaster with riders a small as 42″ able to ride so I think this will be a great addition to Busch Gardens.

New Central Florida Attractions coming in 2016 and 2017

Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando

Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando Resort will join Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure and become the resort’s third incredibly immersive park. Universal’s Volcano Bay will be a place for the entire family. It will be a whole new generation of experience that reimagines what it means to be a water park.

Imagine a place that offers radically innovative, thrilling attractions, peaceful moments of relaxation and an inspired guest experience that will forever change the perception of water theme parks. It will be set in a highly themed, completely immersive environment inspired by postcard-perfect tropical islands. And it will be the kind of special place that only the Universal team – the same team that has changed the face of Universal Orlando Resort in recent years – can envision and create.

I love a day at the water park so I am excited to see what they do with Volcano Bay. I don’t think you can have too many water parks in Central Florida because we have the weather and the crowds to sustain them. I can’t wait to hear more specifics about the attractions that will be part of Volcano Bay. I’ll be updating you here and on Facebook as soon as more details are released.

I am excited about both of these announcements. Is there one that you are more excited for? Is it time to book your central Florida vacation? Start planning now there are great things coming in 2016 and 2017 to all of the Central Florida Theme Parks!
