We have been a Veggie Tales family since the beginning. Veggie Tales and my oldest son, Aaron were born the same year, 1993. We’ve never met a Veggie Tales story that we didn’t like and “Celery Night Fever” is no exception. You know Veggie Tales is a family affair when hubby walked into the house while I was in the middle of watching the movie and wanted to know if it was just starting so he could join me. I told him I was almost done but we could watch it together later.
About Celery Night Fever
In this VeggieTales special, “Celery Night Fever”, a determined young girl sets out to save the city park from being turned into a parking lot by getting her grandfather (Larry the Cucumber) to stage a reunion concert with the disco band he headlined forty years ago. The problem? None of those guys are talking to each other, all of them holding grudges for how the band fell apart all those years ago… It’s theme is forgiveness.
Mom Maven’s Thoughts
I was born in the 60’s and raised in the 70’s so I totally enjoyed the funky music in “Celery Night Fever”. As always, our favorite veggies do a great job of teaching us a moral tale in a thoughtful, fun and entertaining way. The theme of forgiveness is one we all need to be reminded about. I really liked the fact that not only do Laura and Junior need to learn to forgive, so do the members of The Groovy Brothers and even the antagonist Bruce Onion, learned to forgive.
Actor Terry Crews joins the veggie family lending his voice to the character of Bruce Onion and his name to one of Bruce’s minions, Terry Turnip. In the bonus feature “I am Bruce Onion”, Terry shares his love for Veggie Tales and his excitement at being a part of the franchise.
The new Silly Song with Larry, “Perfect Puppy” is adorable as always and gives an implied message about pet adoption at the same time.
Up next for Bob and Larry is the October 14th release of “Beauty and the Beet” starring Kellie Pickler, I can’t wait to check that out! In November, comes a brand new Netflix original TV series, “Veggie Tales in the House”-which marks the first time the adventures of our Veggie friends take place outside the kitchen! I am so excited that the Veggies are coming to Netflix, this is a great way to share Sunday morning values with Saturday morning fun.
