Kid Tips for Walt Disney World: Touring Advice by Kids for Kids is an enlightening field guide for kids. This book would make a perfect gift for kids in families that are planning their first to Walt Disney World. This book is divided into sections by theme park and i filled with short tips written by kids about the attractions and restaurants in that park. Unlike many other guide books that are very wordy the Kid Tips are brief, kid-friendly thoughts that most kids ages 8+ can read on their own.
At the beginning of each section there is an overview called “Kids Vote” and a page of attraction ratings. These are ratings that were given by kids for other kids. The only thing I think is missing in this overview is a list of the “Kid Tip Top Picks”. The overview states “The Magic Kingdom is home to 7 Kid Tip Top Picks” and then you have to look through the section to find out what those 7 are-they are designated with a flag. Personally, I would like a list of the “Kid Tip Top Picks” in the back of the book for easy reference.
Another unique feature of this book are the kid friendly planning pages in the back. They are an organized way for your kids to have their input on your trip planning. I would photocopy the pages and give a set to each child and then do my best to incorporate each child’s must-see attractions into our touring plan.
Also located in the back of the book is a “Lost Card”. This is a great idea to fill out and have your child carry it in their pocket or backpack in case you get separated. This way even a shy child can hand the card to a Cast Member and they can call the parent’s cell phone number to locate them.
Kid Tips isn’t the kind of field guide you need to lug around the park with you. It is a great read for kids while they are planning trip and while traveling to Walt Disney World.
