Ever since Disney announced the Glow-with-the-Show Ears for World of Color at Disney’s California Adventure, I wanted some. I was so excited when it was announced that they eras and technology would be coming to Walt Disney World this fall. I was blessed to receive my Glow with the Show Ears at the Disney Parks Party at Type-A Con in September so I am ready for our December family vacation.
About Glow with the Show
Guests of the Walt Disney World Resort will light the night thanks to new Glow with the Show Ear hats that magically change colors in sync with fireworks, shows and each other at Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Fun, interactive light-up versions of the famous Mickey Ear hats debuted on Oct. 15 during the 15th anniversary of Fantasmic!, the nighttime spectacular presented in the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
These magical Ear hats glow in myriad colors, commanded with the latest technology to complement the imagery and beat of the fireworks and spectaculars. When not activated by these experiences, more surprises are in store for participants as the magical ears glow with other ears and settings around the Vacation Kingdom.
“Technology allows the Ear hats to dance and play along with each musical and illuminated sequence. They truly bring the show’s environment out of the lagoon and the sky, and into the audience in an amazing and dazzling new way, making our guests truly Glow With the Show,” said Dara Trujillo, manager of merchandise marketing, communication, synergy and integration, Walt Disney World Resort.
Guests also can experience Celebrate the Magic, the nighttime projection show at Cinderella Castle and the Wishes fireworks extravaganza at Magic Kingdom with the new Glow with the Show Ear hats. And during the holiday season guests can don their hats and “glow” with Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and at Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season fireworks display at Magic Kingdom.
Each set of Glow with the Show Ear hats is available for $25 at select locations throughout the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
I haven’t had the opportunity to glow with the show…yet, but my friend John from BigFatPanda.com has so today I’ll be sharing his videos with you. Here is a montage of the ears in use at Fantasmic!
Here they are with Celebrate the Magic and with Wishes!
So, what do you think? Will you spend $25 on your next Disney vacation so that you can Glow with the Show? I think the technology is awesome and has great potential and yes, I had planned to buy a set of ears, if I hadn’t received mine at the party. The key to this being a success is the fact that there needs to be a lot of people wearing the ears for them to be effective. I guess time will tell. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.

I have such mixed feelings about Glow with the Show Ears! I love the concept, but am also one of those people who can’t stand light-up toys during my fireworks and Fantasmic experience. However, my 4-yr old will most likely insist on getting a pair of them for his Ears this coming trip regardless!
