At the recent media event for Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Adventure Island, and SeaWorld Orlando we learned about Iron Gwazi, Solar Vortex, and Ice Breaker. Today I’m going to fill you in on what we know about America’s first dual-tailspin water slide.

About Solar Vortex

Spin and splash at Adventure Island on Solar Vortex — America’s first dual-tailspin water slide.  This thrilling family raft slide combines high-banking rotations and rapid descents, sending sliders on a swirling journey through two open tailspin features. Manufactured by Whitewater, Solar Vortex will also include three dynamic AquaLucent™ elements — harnessing the power of the Florida sun into colorful patterns that shine through the slide as riders reach speeds of up to 20 miles per hour. Solar Vortex will be an electrifying new ride for families next year when it opens with the 2020 Adventure Island season.

Solar Vortex Fast Facts

  • Slide Type- 2-4 person raft ride
  • Slide Height- 55 feet
  • Maximum Speed- 20 mph
  • Minimum Rider Height- 42″
  • Slide Features: high-banking rotations, rapid descents, two tailspin features and three dynamic AquaLucent™ elements – harnessing the power of the Florida sun into colorful patterns that shine through the slide

Ticket Info

Non Florida Residents

Adventure Island is located right across the street from Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. If you are visiting the area, I highly recommend the 2 Park or 3 Park ticket for maximum fun at discounted prices. These tickets are available on the Adventure Island website and allow the bearer admission to any 2 or 3 of the four theme parks, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Adventure Island in Tampa and/or SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica in Orlando.

Florida Residents

We Florida residents have some amazing ticket options. The 2020 Fun Card is available now. Pay for a day ($59.99) and get the rest of the 2019 season and all of the 2020 season (block out dates apply).

If you want even more excitement than a Fun Card brings, there are 4 levels of Annual Passes, starting as low as $7.25/month. Each level gives you additional benefits including free parking, food and merchandise discounts, and more.

For 2020, the best value for Floridians is the FOUR PARK PASS, which includes admission to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Adventure Island, SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica Orlando. In addition to exciting NEW rides coming next spring, guests who purchase an annual pass today can enjoy fan-favorite events included with their park admission in Orlando and Tampa. In the fall, there’s Sesame Street Kids’ Weekends and Halloween Spooktacular. Then, as the holidays draw near, visitors can experience the magic of Christmas Town and SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration. And for culinary connoisseurs, the spring brings the Food &Wine Festival and the Seven Seas Food Festival to the parks. For pass holders, there’s something for everyone all year at SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.
