Back in May I attended Florida Blog Con hosted by my friends Sunshine and Hurricanes down in Ft Myers. We had a great day and I learned some new things. Our afternoon snack at the event was sponsored by PDQ. We love PDQ and eat at our local restaurant at least twice a month. One of the snacks that they brought was their Apple Slices with Toffee Dip. OMG this stuff was so good. I was instantly addicted and I am not ashamed to say I ate 2 helpings…and I may have licked the dip container clean and I wasn’t the only one!
Since May, every time we visit PDQ I get the Apple Slices with Toffee Dip instead of French Fries, look at that I am trading fries for fruit (yay me!). Anyway, some days I am craving Toffee Dip but we aren’t going to PDQ so I needed to find a solution. After scouring the interwebs I found a recipe, made it and I deem it a Copycat PDQ Toffee Dip!
- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 4-6 oz toffee bits
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- In a bowl mix together the cream cheese, brown sugar and vanilla until blended well.
- Add the toffee bits and mix until they are well incorporated. Use as much or as little toffee as you would like. I felt 6 oz was a bit much and I will add a little less next time I make this dip.
- Refrigerate in a sealed container for up to 5 days.
If you are already addicted to this dip, enjoy making it at home. If you haven’t tried it, go ahead, give it a try. I like this even more than caramel on my apples <gasp>! Apple season is right around the corner so make sure you Pin and Yum this recipe so you will know where it is when you need it.
