Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) is one of my events at Walt Disney World.Thursday night, Ron, Jordan and myself had the opportunity to enjoy the party, and some extra special magic. We first attended this party in December 1994 and yes, some things have changed over the years but many are still the same. It still snows on Main Street USA, there is still an awesome Christmas parade with the classic Gingerbread Men and Toy Soldiers. Yesterday Disney released an adorable video of the training a Toy Soldier goes through to prepare for the MVMCP auditions.

One of the newest additions to the Magic Kingdom at Christmas time are the Dream Lights on Cinderella Castle. At 6:15pm there is a brief show at the Castle Stage and then the castle is lit in beautiful, sparkling LED lights.

Entertainment:

  • Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas Parade 8:15pm and 10:30pm
  • Holiday Wishes (fireworks) 9:30pm
  • A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas Show 7:45pm, 8:45pm, 9:55pm, 10:50pm and 11:45pm (Tomorrowland Stage)
  • Celebrate the Season show 7:45pm, 10:05pm and 11:20pm (Castle Forecourt)
  • Woody’s Hootin’ Holiday Open House (Diamond Horseshoe)
  • Club Tinsel Dance Party (Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe)

The party was sold out the night we went but attraction lines were short, 20 minutes or less! This allowed us to ride some of our favorite rides that during regular park hours often have very long wait times! Another bonus for us was the fact that New Fantasyland was open in dress rehearsal so i was able to take Ron and Jordan on Under the Sea-Journey of The Little Mermaid and into Enchanted Tales with Belle, we also took a brief look into the Be Our Guest Restaurant. This was added magic and we really appreciated the opportunity!

During Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party guests get free snacks! Hot cocoa, cookies, apple juice and apple slices are available at several locations throughout the park. The hot cocoa lines were the longest and slowest moving lines we stood in all night long! It was a cold (54 degree) damp Florida night so that might have had something to do with the long lines.

Since the dance party at Cosmic Ray’s had been re-themed as Club Tinsel we made sure we popped in for some hot cocoa and enjoyed dancing with Santa Goofy and Pluto.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a hard ticket (separate ticket) event. This year’s party dates are Nov. 9, 12, 15, 16, 25, 27, 29, 30 and Dec. 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21. Tickets can be pre-ordered on the Disney website. The parties do sell out so I recommend buying your tickets in advance. Attending the party is a great way to celebrate the Christmas season in the Magic Kingdom while also riding your favorite Magic Kingdom rides.

Have you been to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party? Are you going this year? What is your favorite thing about the party? Leave me a comment and let me know.
