A few weeks ago my husband and I had the honor to go to Tampa to see a preview of the movie October Baby. I have NEVER in my life been moved and challenged to my core by a movie, until I saw October Baby. The movie hits select theaters next week in limited release. Use the theater locator to find the theater near you. Unfortunately for us, we will have to drive an hour north or south to see it again-but we will and we will be taking our teenagers with us. We are also working to organize groups from local churches, civic groups and homeschool families so that as many people as possible can be touched by this powerful, life changing movie.

We all go through times of searching in our lives. We ask questions like who are we? Why are we here? What is our purpose on this earth? When college student Hannah Lawson asks those questions, the search for answers takes her on an emotional journey to find the difficult truths of her story.

October Baby is based on a true story and the story is beautifully told by John and Andrew Erwin who are the writers, directors and producers. The cast is made up of newcomers Rachel Hendrix and Jennifer Price, veterans John Schneider, Jasmine Guy, Jason Burkey and Shari Rigby and American Idol contestant Chris Sligh. The movie is rated PG-13 due to the sensitive nature of the subject matter.

Mark your calendars now and plan to go see what I feel will be the most important movie to hit theaters in 2012.

Once you see the movie, please come back here and let me know your thoughts on it. I’d love to hear what you have to say.

I can say without a doubt that the script and acting of this movie provide an authentic and sincere depiction of life. While it may not precisely mirror the life that you or I have experienced so far, it does provide an example of the real decisions we are forced to make, which have monumental consequences that affect not only ourselves, during our short time on Earth.A life is a wonderful and precious gift from the LORD. This film uses the story of a young woman struggling to find answers and purpose to enlighten the viewers with simple truths in a nonjudgmental fashion.
