Three-Way Steak Marinade

This three-way steak marinade recipe from Char-Broil is versatile, with just a few tweaks you can make it Classic, Mexican, or Asian.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb flank steak

Classic Marinade

  • 1 cup Italian-style vinagarette
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper coarsely ground

Mexican Variation (add to Classic Marinade)

  • 1 TBS lime juice fresh
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chipotle chili owder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Asian Variation (add to Classic Marinade)

  • 2 TBS Soy sauce reduced sodium
  • 2 TBS ginger fresh minced
  • 1 TBS brown sugar packed
  • 1 TBS sesame seeds toasted
  • 1 1/2 tsp dark sesame seed oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together all ingredients until completely emulsified

  2. Marinate meat in a sealable plastic bag or covered container in the refrigerator for 4-24 hours.

  3. Over medium-high heat, place meat on grill, discard marinade. Grill for 3-5 minutes per side.

  4. Let steak rest 5 minutes before slicing.

  5. Slice into thin strips, slicing against the grain.
