One of the things I was looking forward to testing out on our recent Carnival Cruise was their new, updated wifi program. On past cruises I have lugged my laptop and paid a lot of money to occasionally check my email, update my blog or post on Facebook. This trip would be different! The new plans were rolled out on the Valor one week before our cruise 🙂 We made good use of the plan we chose and are so happy for this improvement.
I had no plans to check email or update my blog on this vacation but I did want to keep in touch with the outside world via social media and to be able to keep in touch with my friends and family on the ship. The new Carnival wifi plans were perfect for our needs.

How We Used the Social Plan
We had 7 cabins. Between those cabins we had 6 people from 5 cabins who got the $25 per week social plan, yes 2 cabins were left out-they aren’t iPhone users. In addition to using the wifi plan to upload pictures and update statuses on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, we also used it for iMessage to keep each other informed. Regular texting doesn’t work but iMessage does.
As you can see, we messaged for many reasons but it really came in handy when we were trying to meet up to see a show or enjoy breakfast or lunch with some of our family. Honestly, we all agreed iMessage itself was worth the $25 for the week. It allowed us to stay in touch without running between decks 6-10 to try and find people in their rooms!
