My music listening is normally split right down the middle 50% Contemporary Christian and Worship and 50% Disney music. Due to the fact that I am a music educator and a vocalist and I live in a house of musicians and audio techs we are very picky about the quality of the music that we play in our home. Between the 4 of us our tastes are varied but the majority of music played in our home is Christian be it Contemporary Christian, Rap, Rock, Alternative, Jazz, Techo or Worship. If the words aren’t edifying it doesn’t get played…end of story.
This past week I’ve been listening to Revolution Worship (Live). Here is some information about this album:
“Revolution Worship…Live At Joy Church International”, is a tremendous Praise & Worship album with a powerfully inspiring collection of songs that is unparalleled to any other Praise & Worship series in it’s category. Filled with meaningful lyrics and sincere, personal worship, “Revolution Worship…Live At Joy Church International” masterfully demonstrates authenticity at it’s best. From fiery, electrifying tracks with edgy, rock-driven guitar to peaceful, intimate tracks, this album focuses on pointing attention to God.
And because it’s recorded live, you get to experience the congregational feel of being in a vibrant church service. Infusing musical quality with a spiritual impact that raises the bar on what to expect in new Praise & Worship music, “Revolution Worship…Live At Joy Church International” brings you a brand new worship experience. From start to finish, this release is about the act of ministering uncompromisingly God-centered music through pure, heart-felt praise!
This project reminds me more of a 1990’s worship CD by Ron Kenoly (who is a favorite worship leader of mine), but it is very different from the worship music that I currently listen to-Kari Jobe, Kim Walker, Jesus Culture, Misty Edwards. That being said the album is pretty good. My favorite tracks are Revolution (which may make its way into my workout playlist), Very Same Power which is a medium temp piece and very powerful, and Yes. There are also tracks by Pastor Jim Frease, the most notable of which is when he leads the Sinner’s Prayer. Now my least favorite thing on this project is the voice of Lisa Wright. When she is singing with Mark Mathis she blends well but on the two songs that she takes the lead on her voice becomes pinchy and uncomfortable to listen to, so we just skip those tracks. I know that everyone has a different opinion about music and as a vocalist myself, I can be very critical so your opinion may be different.I always love “live” worship albums when you can hear the congregation singing along so that is a plus for this project.
